TOKYO: Apple will help the flood-affected Japanese people by undertaking free repair of iPhones, iPads, iPods, Mac computers, Apple Watches and Apple's displays damaged in the torrential rains that hit the western part of the country earlier this month. If the gadgets were impaired directly by the rain disasters and still fixable, individual users can apply for the free service, The Japan Times reported on Monday. The Cupertino, California-headquartered tech giant plans to accept requests for free repair of its products until the end of September. Visible in the MyJio app automatically, this add-on pack is currently rolling out for select subscribers, eligibility for which is currently unknown. Also, the Jio digital pack does not come with any additional calling or SMS benefits, which will remain same as the one offered in the existing base pack. Android smartphone users are being warned against a new ‘Frankenstein’ virus that cybercriminals are looking to spread. Dubbed MysteryBot, the virus combines the worst features of different malwares like ransomware, keyloggers and banking trojans to create a virus that can attack on many fronts. Security researchers from ThreatFabric discovered the malware, and said it appears to be related to the well-known LokiBot Android banking trojan. “We believe there is indeed a link between the creator(s) of LokiBot and MysteryBot.
